With just hours left to live, this bride finally married the love of her life from her hospital bed.
Heather Mosher had been battling breast cancer for two years, but always dreamed of having her special day with her husband David.
She celebrates the beautiful moment with her arms outstretched while still breathing through an oxygen mask.
The bittersweet moment was captured by bridesmaid Christina Karas just after David and Heather, from Connecticut, US, said their ‘I do’s’.
Heather’s dream of being David’s wife only lasted 18 hours before she sadly died, WFSB reports.
The last words Heather uttered were her wedding vows.
Recalling Heather’s celebration, David said it reminded him of someone crossing the finish line of a marathon.
‘Nobody thought she would’ve made it that far. She proved them all wrong and that’s what that photo says to me,’ David said.
The couple met at a dance class more than two years ago and were ‘inseparable’ after that, David admitted.
Their blossoming relationship was hit hard by Heather’s breast cancer diagnosis in December, 2016.
‘She didn’t know I was going to propose that night, but I said to myself, she needs to know she’s not going to go down this road alone,’ David said.
As Heather’s cancer spread their wedding plans did not falter, and they remained committed to tying the knot.
By September this year, the cancer was in her brain and a couple months later, she was on life support with a breathing tube.
She wasn’t expected to make it past October, but Heather had other plans.
Their wedding day was set for December 30, but as her cancer worsened, they brought it forward to December 22.
David said he knew it was going to be their last time together and it seemed like ‘the strangest funeral I’ve ever been to’.
Despite losing his wife hours after they got married, he’s taken her fighting spirit with him.
He added: ‘Heather said, “I want to keep fighting,” so that’s the mantra I’m picking up. She was able to fight til the end, I’m going to fight until my end.’
